Genius Core™ 3D Digital Twin platform
What is a digital twin?
The term Digital Twin is usually used for an application that aims to digitally represent the physical world and activities and make predictions about it. These applications usually create a 3D digital model of an object, which is then enriched with data from the real world. The first definition of the digital twin dates back to the early 2000s and the term became more widespread after the mid-2010s with industrial digitalisation.
At the heart of the digital twin is the use of information from different sources and presenting it clearly to the end user. However, because there are a multitude of information sources and applications, simply collecting and presenting information doesn’t take you far, and the same solution may not work in different contexts. This is why our digital twins are always a solution configured to the end user’s premises and needs for use cases that arise from the users’ substance expertise. The modular and fully configurable platform allows you to customize factory views, data sources, reports and user levels to suit your business needs.
How will Genius Core™ increase my production productivity?
Genius Core™ 3D Digital Twin provides real-time visibility into the different processes, machines and production lines in your factory with accurate data. This gives you a tool to help you manage your production in a data-driven way. With an intuitive and user-friendly platform, you can easily monitor machine utilization, minimize production downtime, optimize performance, streamline processes, improve quality control, identify the causes of problems and monitor real-time connections between process data, production downtime and waste.
Does Genius Core™ provide quality assurance and data security?
Yes. To ensure the best service and software development, we continuously improve the quality and efficiency of our operations. In addition to our experience and the feedback we receive, we use Agile and Scrum methods in our development of the service and software. In our operations, we utilize ISO 9001 and ISO 27000 standards as well as ITIL and Cobit models.
Ensuring data security is extremely important to us. Our data collection software is designed solely to transmit data to our software, further enhancing security. Our software operates within a dedicated public cloud environment, specifically Microsoft Azure, guaranteeing a secure infrastructure.
What are the costs and fees to use Genius Core™?
We aim for transparency and simplicity in our initial pricing, so you know exactly what to expect. Pricing of the service and for example small deployments starts from 2500€/month (including 20h of expert work) and for larger deployments the price typically starts from 4800€/month (including 40h of expert work).
Who can tell me more about the solution?
Our sales team is always ready to answer your questions and work with you to find the best ways to use the digital twin in your production. In addition, together we can organize a Genius Day™ workshop, based on real data from your factory, and provide a more detailed assessment of the data visualization model that suits your needs.
FAQ
OPC UA
What is OPC UA?
OPC UA (Open Platform Communications Unified Architecture) is an industrial automation and communication standard that enables communication between devices and systems from different manufacturers. It is one of the key communication standards for Industry 4.0 and the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), facilitating seamless communication and integration between different industrial devices and systems.
When to use OPC UA?
OPC UA is particularly useful when data needs to be shared between different systems or devices from different manufacturers. It provides a standard interface for applications to access data from the control hardware. This allows you to access data from multiple devices using a common protocol. OPC UA is perfectly suited for use with artificial intelligence, for example, because of the wide variety of data available. Big Data can be easily processed by artificial intelligence to produce fast and predictive reports.
How OPC UA works?
OPC UA is based on the client/server principle, where the OPC client requests information from the OPC server. For this purpose, standardized communication is needed on the transmission path between the OPC client and server. TCP/IP was chosen as the basic protocol and Ethernet as the physical standard.
What’s the difference between an OPC client and OPC server?
The OPC client is the application that requests data from the OPC server, while the OPC server is the application that provides data to the OPC client.
Why do I need OPC UA servers if my control hardware vendor says they support OPC UA?
The OPC server provides a standard interface for applications to access information from the control hardware. If the control hardware supplier supports OPC UA, this means that their hardware can be accessed via the OPC UA server. Ask your vendor for your IP address, username, password and SSL key (if available) to access the server.
Do I need multiple OPC servers if I have multiple brands of devices?
All logics, especially the newer ones, can be built as OPC UA servers, and one OPC UA client can be connected to several different servers. When investing in a new machine, check that OPC UA Server compatibility is available.
Why are there so many OPC standards? (DA, A&E, HDA, UA)
OPC standards have been developed for different needs and uses. For example, the DA (Data Access) standard is used for real-time data exchange, while the HDA (Historical Data Access) standard is used for historical data.
What is OPC HDA?
HDA stands for Historical Data Access. HDA is a standard that defines how historical information from a data history or other historical information source is used.
Why OPC UA was developed?
UA (Unified Architecture) was developed to address some of the limitations of previous versions of the standard, such as security and platform independence.
